Play ball, fetch or playing with a frisbee are some activities that your dog will sure enjoy big time, and we bet you will enjoy them yourself! These activities are fun and a very good workout for you both, also, it creates a bonding moment between you and your pet.
One thing you have to take in account before trying to play any of these games with your mascot, is that not all of them are suitable for all pups, some games, like the frisbee, are high-impact games that are not recommended for pets below 1 year age, because it could be too much to handle and result in a serious injury. Here we give you some advice on how to keep the games fun and safe at the same time:
- Make sure the game you want to play is suitable for your pet.
Suitability depends mostly in your pet’s age, before they turn 1 year old, it’s recommended to play soft and training games. This way he will be learning how to behave, how to respond to your call and training its muscles amongst other things. After that age, you can raise the intensity a little bit.
- Warm-up is key.
Before any game starts, a good warm-up such as running or walking for a while can make the difference. It will help you and your pet to stretch your muscles and prevent any workout related accidents.
- Keep its toys clean!
Either they’re plastic or fabric, keeping your dog’s toys clean after playing with them is an important step in keeping your game time safe. Prevent your mascot from chewing on dirty toys, if they’re plastic, wash them in a solution of ½ cup of CLORALEN® in 34 FL OZ of water, let stand for 5 minutes, scrub and rinse perfectly.
If the toys are made of fabric, dissolve ½ cup of Pinol® Detergent in 2.6 gallons of water and let the toys in the solution for an hour. Then scrub and rinse perfectly.
Remember that keeping your pet safe is another way to show him your unconditional love. Now go and have fun!
